After waiting several weeks to receive this, I am very happy with it. First and foremost, the “bar” itself is very small…so much so, that when I took it out of the box I was convinced is was not going to have enough sound…luckily, this is NOT THE CASE.
In my 20×25 living room, the unit is plenty loud enough for TV, movies, and music….I’m very pleased with the sound as a stereo with the live stream Pandora function on my Samsung BD-C5500 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player. The sub works well, and the “surround effect” does exactly as it claims.
So, the Soundbar is currently hooked up to my Samsung UN55C6300 55-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV (Black)
via optical cable…..just go into settings and change to “external speaker” and thats about it get all your cable, any hdmi hookups, etc to run out of the bar…….Long and short, setup is very easy and took me about 15 minutes….more time hiding cables than anything else.
If you are looking for a very easy, minimalistic. (ie, no speaker cables, etc) this is, in my opinion, the best option within the 0 range of soundbars.
Cool to note, the above noted samsung blue ray is small enough to slide underneath the soundbar with just a couple of centimeters clearance (when the legs are on the bar….) very cool look. I’ll try to attach a photo that shows this….
Also, the unit looks really easy to wall mount, due to its suprisingly small size and the fact that the box comes with a cardboard template you just hold up against the whole to lineup your drill holes….looks really easy

I recently upgraded my home theater to 7.1 and went with a great in wall installation for the rear 4. Unfortunately, my wife liked the clutter reduction and “requested” that I ditch the huge tower LCR speakers as well… I investigated several soundbar solutions to add to my existing setup and finding unpowered LCR bars was not easy until I found the Polk SurroundBar 50.
I bought mine through the Amazon Warehouse and it arrived in a truly shredded box, but the contents were in perfect order. Hookup was simple, although the included wires are too long for my install and a little on the scrawny side, but they are well sheathed and color coded for easy install. The variety of mounting/stand solutions was very nice and allowed me to place the bar on the console under my 65″ LCD without a hitch.
Setup and calibration was simple, but as others (including the vendor) have indicated they are a little bright and you MUST have subwoofer support if you want an accurate experience. Surround is as iffy as I would expect, no matter the mojo, but since I was looking for LCR it was perfect. I ended up wiring the SurroundBar’s surrounds to give me a 9.1 setup and it does an admirable job.
Soundbars ARE a compromise – I doubt anyone’s bar will give you the same surround experience as a discrete speaker system. If that is what you’re hoping for, then get 5+ speakers and be done with it. However, if you’re looking for a single speaker solution to give you a reasonable portrayal and you already have an amplifier then look no further. I bought these speakers because they were such a good deal for 130 shipped, also because of the other reviewer here. Comes with 7 channels and a sub, and boy they sound GREAT, they are good quality. Sub is very packs a punch for 100 Watts, better then my last Onkyo 8″ sub by FAR. The speakers are very good, i can turn them up and have no problems with them cracking, distorting, or popping. I have used Yamaha speakers, JBL, and Onkyo speakers, these are just as good as the old JBL’s i had but smaller. I use them with a Harmen Kardon AVR 247 for DVD’s and Xbox 360. Gameplay is very good with these speakers with Halo 3. I tested them out with Star Wars also and it was GREAT! I have them plugged in though HDMI on both systems. Don’t hesitate buying these they are a steal!

Paradigm Cinema 110 CT 5.1 Home Theater Surround Sound System (Silver) Review
Purchased this system two weeks ago to replace six-year old Onkyo HTIB speakers for my home theater room, used for movies (and TV) and not so much for music. (For music I am using a 40 year old Sansui system with JBL loudspeakers. Love them). Onkyo, imho, makes the best HTIB systems. I had been happy but was cognizant of the limitations of the system. I wanted a fuller sound but didn’t want to spend a lot of $$$ or buy large speakers. I had been looking at the Energy Micros but when Amazon offered the CT 110 system in silver for 9 I knew this was the one for me. First of all Paradigm makes great systems and they are made in Canada (not in China). I happen to like the silver better than the black. The sound of the CT 110 is full, dialogue is crisp and clear and the surrounds (dipole) are a steal at this price. The sub does perform differently than the Onkyo (not as boomy – that’s a good thing).
Right now I am using the Onkyo HTIB receiver and I need to push up the volume more to get the speakers to respond. I’ll be looking at an Onkyo receiver in a few months and I am sure it will be a better match for these speakers.
What I deal (imho). Half price, the color I prefer, and a huge step up from my HTIB set – I don’t think you can wrong with this system. I have been jumping out of my seat a bit with some of the sounds coming out of the speakers. I compared the speakers to my HTIB with a couple of movies (Public Enemy) – where Christian Bale is at times hard to hear. The Paradigms did a good job deciphering his somewhat inarticulate utterings during the movie – I could understand it all whereas the Onkyos were unable to keep up. The machine gun scenes were realistic with the Paradigms – very sharp. I then plunked in GI Joe and gave the speakers a good workout. The reports from the gunfire, roar of the machine engines and the clang of the swords were all very satisfying. No complaints.
I talk a lot with a guy who buys high end audio – he has the “upgrade” addiction. I tell him I am sure there are “better” speakers out there – but as long as one is satisfied with the quality one has why look for more? Maybe in 6 years I’ll be looking to upgrade again but for now I am very happy with these speakers.
For the reviewer who was missing brackets and had a problem with the subwoofer – I’d recommend calling Paradigm customer service. The system is covered under warranty (Amazon is an authorized retailer) and being a good company I’m sure they will try to help you.
