09 Dec 09 How To Choose An Audio-Video Installer To Design And Install Your Home Theater Room Or System
Here are a few questions for a home theater company, if you have any questions on the phone with them
First, take the time, some developers and home theater installers, before an interview, you are working with. As you talk with them, be sure to listen carefully and take notes as they answer. Remember to find out the two now … or suffer the consequences, to find out later.
1) Now this is important: Did they do a "full" state licenseLow work … or they are wiring and installation of home theater room without the proper state license?. (You'd be surprised how many say Electricians & Alarm Installers, they are certified. Remember, a full electrical license does not entitle the installation of low voltage wiring. It is not the same as an unrestricted low voltage license. 2) Lets talk about insurance. What kind of insurance they carry? What happens when your $ 5000 Sony plasma TVs to fall? ) They agree with the general liability insurance for all their employees … and workers' comp insurance? (Many companies use subcontractors that may or may not be licensed) Ask to see a current proof of insurance during the interview process! 3) Do they offer you a list of references to check? Or do you have to ask again and again? Do not settle for telephone advice either. Friends and family can pose as false references. 4) Have them check a website for you, your company,View of evidence, samples of work they do and a place to educate themselves about home theater?
5) What about funding? If special financing is available, such as 6 months as cash, for example? Or do they want all the money in advance?
6) If installing them, some of your equipment that you bought on your own? Or they only have the equipment, they deliver?
7) Are you a "Do it Yourself" a man? Are they with you about some jobs, such as pre-wiringYour room is just a performance? Or just hang your plasma and set up your own surround sound system?
Are they small jobs? For example, they offer an LCD hanging above the fireplace, or optimize your existing to 7.1 surround sound system?
9) it offers a on-the-Home-Theater-FREE consultation … or they will charge you for the privilege to show them what they do for you? Do not be surprised if they charge a $ 100,00 or more of themthe opportunity to acquire your company.
10) Do they have a home theater showroom that you can come and play, even with all the latest home theater systems? Bring your favorite action movies on your favorite sound effects to listen to the various surround sound systems that they have on our side? Bring your favorite CD's and listen to the songs and compare them with several speaker packages, so you can hear the difference?
11) WhileThere you have to feel in conversation with the consultant or do you feel sales pressure to spend more money than you have in mind? Your presentation was informative and helpful, or was it a thinly disguised sales pitch?
12) Beware of sleazy sales tactics. Are they willing to work within your budget … or are you pushing to spend more than you at ease with itself?
One way to find out is their references during the review. Do not be afraid to ask about the sales process, printing and distribution.If they did not like it, they will be sure to tell you!
It takes time to find answers to these questions in advance?
Certainly, yes.
But in the end you will agree that it was time worth spent.
