I am using this with a SONY bravia 46 inch LCD and PS3/Blueray system; I am taking the optical out from the LCD and running it into one of the two optical inputs on the soundbar. I am then using the analog input with the output from an Ipod…both sound great! Polk Audio RM6750 5.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System (Set of Six, Black) Review
I’m not an audiophile by any means, but these speakers suit me well. I set out looking for a set of speakers in the 200-300 range and was let down by the choices. One of my friends spotted this one on Ebay and after comparing the specs to other sets in the same price range, I felt it was worth giving these a shot. Thankfully, Amazon was even cheaper then Ebay!
Here’s my setup: Samsung LN-46B750 46″ LCD, Sony STR-DH810 7.1 receiver, and these speakers. I’m running various components through the receiver via HDMI and/or optical audio, including a PS3 for bluray, Xbox 360 for gaming, and a home built HTPC for high definition TV and movie downloads. My living room probably isn’t even 15′x15′ so it’s quite small. I really only needed this 5.1 set, instead of a 7.1 set for the size of my living room.
On first plug in, I auto calibrated with the Sony receiver to all flat settings. I actually haven’t even tweaked it much since then as out of the box (and out of the calibration), these speakers sounded great! The powered subwoofer is a big plus and a big part of why I picked this set over others. I keep my bass at around 35-40% and it’s nice and deep.
These speakers are pretty high quality, and much nicer then home theater in a box speaker sets you can purchase at Best Buy for around the same price. I was actually blown away by the sheer weight of the components when I first received the box.
I don’t have any real complaints about the setup. For the price, these speakers are great. I will note that I plan to upgrade the two front speakers to a higher quality set and possibly move the current speakers to create a 7.1 setup. Don’t get me wrong, these speakers are great for home theaters, but my setup is home theater / home audio… So the front speakers leave a little to be desired in a music scenario. First off, I got a great deal on them (0.00 out the door with a 30 day return policy). So at that price I would give them a shot.
I am using a Kenwood KFR-9080 7.1 THX Select reciever that has high power, so I believe you need decent equipment to get the most out of the system.
I am really pleased with sound of this system, I have set up a Bose Lifestyle system before and it sounded ok, but not something I would ever buy. It is too limited with power and dvd playback.So using my Kenwood reciever I get very loud and fairly accurate sound. The first thing I watched on it was Avatar, I decided to keep them after that. The bass was pounding and made the movie very exciting to watch. I have found that normal listening to regular audio like cds you need to boost the treble a bit and cut back on the bass to get a nice clean sound.

Paradigm Cinema 110 CT 5.1 Home Theater Surround Sound System (Silver) Review
Purchased this system two weeks ago to replace six-year old Onkyo HTIB speakers for my home theater room, used for movies (and TV) and not so much for music. (For music I am using a 40 year old Sansui system with JBL loudspeakers. Love them). Onkyo, imho, makes the best HTIB systems. I had been happy but was cognizant of the limitations of the system. I wanted a fuller sound but didn’t want to spend a lot of $$$ or buy large speakers. I had been looking at the Energy Micros but when Amazon offered the CT 110 system in silver for 9 I knew this was the one for me. First of all Paradigm makes great systems and they are made in Canada (not in China). I happen to like the silver better than the black. The sound of the CT 110 is full, dialogue is crisp and clear and the surrounds (dipole) are a steal at this price. The sub does perform differently than the Onkyo (not as boomy – that’s a good thing).
Right now I am using the Onkyo HTIB receiver and I need to push up the volume more to get the speakers to respond. I’ll be looking at an Onkyo receiver in a few months and I am sure it will be a better match for these speakers.
What I deal (imho). Half price, the color I prefer, and a huge step up from my HTIB set – I don’t think you can wrong with this system. I have been jumping out of my seat a bit with some of the sounds coming out of the speakers. I compared the speakers to my HTIB with a couple of movies (Public Enemy) – where Christian Bale is at times hard to hear. The Paradigms did a good job deciphering his somewhat inarticulate utterings during the movie – I could understand it all whereas the Onkyos were unable to keep up. The machine gun scenes were realistic with the Paradigms – very sharp. I then plunked in GI Joe and gave the speakers a good workout. The reports from the gunfire, roar of the machine engines and the clang of the swords were all very satisfying. No complaints.
I talk a lot with a guy who buys high end audio – he has the “upgrade” addiction. I tell him I am sure there are “better” speakers out there – but as long as one is satisfied with the quality one has why look for more? Maybe in 6 years I’ll be looking to upgrade again but for now I am very happy with these speakers.
For the reviewer who was missing brackets and had a problem with the subwoofer – I’d recommend calling Paradigm customer service. The system is covered under warranty (Amazon is an authorized retailer) and being a good company I’m sure they will try to help you. THE SHIPPING:
I was skeptical and thought this may be a mistake but it arrived a week after I ordered it. Brand new, factory sealed. Opened it up and everything is intact, doesn’t seem like a factory refurb.
INTERFACE:
The non-techs will have a problem with the interface. Its annoying but after a few minutes I caught on. You can’t plug an iPod directly in via USB but you can play it through the AUX with a Y cable. (stereo RCA to 3/4″ inch balanced) Looks great though. It definitely will not make your home theater LOOK any worse. Most images available don’t do it justice. Its obvious that LG understands that we want our electronics to also look good in our rooms. I have a large HDTV from LG and its sexy too.
SOUND:
Sound is great. It sounds better in stereo then my $[...]+ Samsung system thats in my living room. The sound is great for a bedroom or small living room. Wouldn’t recommend it for a larger room. Tried it with a PS3 game and its awesome. It has a bonus digital optical input for sound. I agree with most reviews that the virtual surround sound feature is really just a gimmick. It sounds tinny and like they simply added reverb to the sound.
HOOK UP:
Really different setup when comparing it with other HTIB’s. (home theater in a box) The amp, and most of the connections are located on the sub. Only the USB and HDMI ports are on the receiver which means you will have to store the sub close to the receiver, might be inconvenient. Proprietary speaker connectors but very clean simple design. I like that the whole unit only needs 1 power cord.
OVERALL:
So far, so good. I am basing my utter joy off of the fact that I only paid $[...]. Not sure if I’d pay what its selling for right now. Then again, I already had an existing home theater and wanted something for my bedroom. You can buy Cheap LG LFD790 – Home theater system – glossy black Online!
